Benefit Concert for NH Gleans-Belknap County
The Belknap County Conservation District (BCCD) participates in the statewide NH Gleans network administered by the UNH NH Sustainability Institute. This is a food donation program that sees BCCD coordinating volunteers to harvest surplus fruit and vegetables from donors like the Belknap County Jail Gardening Program, local farmers, and home gardeners. BCCD then distributes this fresh, local food to local food pantries, soup kitchens and senior centers.
On March 11, 2017 NH Gleans-Belknap County will be hosting a benefit concert to help fund the part-time Gleaning Coordinator staff position.

BCCD Funding Overview
The Belknap County Conservation District (BCCD) receives a portion of its funding from the county. County funds are used to pay the salary and benefits of 1 full time staff member, the wages of a part-time position, the hiring of natural resource consultants on a per diem basis, and to have a financial review performed by a Certified Public Accountant.
Grant funds and other monies are secured through fundraising, service fees or donations to pay for project expenses and other operational costs. The county’s contribution is vital to the ability of BCCD to apply for grants that bring additional dollars to Belknap County.
